Who writes it
Verithora is a UK web studio in East Dulwich, London SE22. It builds and runs websites for small businesses and trades. It is a sole-trader business, run by one person, who is not named on this site.
Pieces in News carry the byline "Verithora News Desk". That is the name we publish news under, not a separate company or a team of reporters. Guides in Resources carry the business name. Either way, Verithora is responsible for every word.
What we cover
Changes that touch a small business website: browser warnings, Google search and Business Profile changes, platform closures and price changes, and UK rules a website has to follow. We write for the owner, not for developers. Each news piece says what changed, who it affects, and what to do, in that order.
We do not write up rumours, leaks or claims we cannot trace to the organisation that made the change.
How facts are checked
- Primary sources first. We check each fact on the issuer's own page: the company's blog or help centre, GOV.UK, legislation.gov.uk, or the regulator. Press coverage alone is not enough. If only the press reports something, we say "reported" or leave it out.
- Quotes are copied, not paraphrased. Words in quotation marks are the source's exact words, checked against the live page.
- Every source is listed. Each news piece ends with its sources and the date we checked them.
- Our own tests say how they were done. When we test something ourselves, such as loading a page in a browser, we say which browser, which settings and which date. We never mock up a screenshot. If a test does not show what the source describes, we say so.
- Numbers come with their source. We do not publish a statistic we cannot link to. Estimates by other firms are labelled as estimates.
"Published" and "Last verified"
"Published" is the day a piece first went live. "Last verified" is the most recent day we re-checked its facts against the sources. We re-check a piece when one of its sources changes, and at least every three months. If a fact has changed, we update the piece and show an "Updated" date.
How we use AI tools
We use AI tools to help with research, to summarise long source documents and to draft text. Before we publish, a person checks each fact, figure and quote against the source it cites, then reads the whole piece and decides whether it goes live. We never use AI tools to invent quotes, figures, test results, screenshots or reviews. When a piece reports our own test, we say how we ran it, and a person reviews the result. Some of those tests are scripts we wrote and ran, such as our check of East Dulwich trade websites.
Our commercial interest
We sell websites and website care, so we have an interest in some of the stories we cover. A piece may end with an offer of help. The offer never decides what we report, and we say plainly when the honest answer is that you do not need us. We take no payment, free products or affiliate fees for coverage.
Corrections
If you spot a mistake, email hello@verithora.com with "Correction" in the subject and a link to the piece. We acknowledge within two working days. If we got something wrong, we fix it and add a dated note at the foot of the piece saying what changed. We do not quietly rewrite a fact that someone may already have relied on.
